HARVEST EXCHANGE MARKET
At the Harvest Exchange Market, you could say our passion is feeding people. That’s how we started, after all: during a time of remarkable uncertainty, a need for people to be fed was never in doubt.
Jason Chaney, the founder of Harvest Exchange Market and a local Friendswoodian, saw this need but also knew his entire life had singularly prepared him to fill it. A chef-in-the-making since childhood, Jason graduated from the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America in 2002 before immediately immersing himself in European cuisine in Switzerland. The very next year, he attended the SlowFood sponsored Istituto Superiore di Gastronomia in Jesi, Italy. What followed was a string of successful culinary positions across the world, including the famed Commander’s Palace in New Orleans, and culminating in the opening of his very own restaurant in Alvin, Texas: The Barbed Rose Steakhouse & Seafood Company.
Though what never left Jason was a desire to serve others. This led to a weekly Kitchen Ministry in 2009, feeding Houston's homeless community, and a nearly seven year journey at Clear Lake Regional Hospital. Where he not only served over 2,600 meals per day, but also found a way to make hospital food enjoyable. Imagine that.
But when the craziness of 2020 rolled around, Jason and his wife, Jennifer, a Galveston native and homeschool mom whose desire is to tangibly show Jesus' love to others, started providing lovingly-crafted comfort meals for the community with new menus posted every week. Best of all? The meals are already cooked by the world-traveling chef himself and only need to be reheated to enjoy alone, or with the entire family.
So, welcome to the Harvest Exchange Market, where you could say our passion is feeding people.
But our true passion is serving the people we feed.
